MLB closes the case of Shohei Ohtani considering that he was a “victim of fraud” on the part of his translator

SANTA ANA, California – The former interpreter of the Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani He pleaded guilty Tuesday to tax and bank fraud, acknowledging that he stole nearly $17 million from the Japanese baseball star to pay his sports betting debts.

Ippei Mizuhara’s crimes shocked the baseball world and shattered his image as Ohtani’s right-hand man in ballparks across the United States. He accepted his guilt when appearing in federal court in Santa Ana, California.

The former interpreter abused his personal and professional relationship with Ohtani to extract millions from the player’s accounts for years. He even impersonated Ohtani before the bankers, according to prosecutors.

Mizuhara signed a plea agreement on May 5 that detailed the allegations and was announced by prosecutors several days later.
