The romantic singer and songwriter Myriam Hernandez has been decorated as Fundamental Figure of Chilean Musicmain distinction of the Society of Authors of Chile (SCD) in recognition of his transcendence of the music of his country and abroad.
Last night Mon Laferte and Karol G among other artists participated in the tribute event to Hernandezwhich will be at the National Theater in Santo Domingo on June 15.
“It is one of the most significant awards of my career, it has been very exciting and it fills me with pride to receive all this love from the musicians of my country. I have always said, with all due respect, that I do feel like a prophet in my land because of the recognition that Chile has always given me, with the love and support of the public and the consideration of the media, radio stations, critics and from my contemporary colleagues and new artists who have let me know” said Hernandez after the distinction ceremony.
The event featured live performances by reggae singer Quique Neira and pop-rock singer-songwriter Nicole and Mon Laferte with a version of the classic ‘Huele a Peligro’ in a video clip made by Camila Grandi. Paul Anka was also present to greet him, remembering the duet between the two, and Karol G as a declared admirer, with whom an emotional meeting also went viral.
“Of all the qualities and achievements that Myriam has, perhaps the most important is having reached people’s hearts, having entered their homes and become part of their lives.” said the president of SCD, Rodrigo Osorio, when presenting the recognition.
The event was attended by the Minister of Cultures Carolina Arredondo, while the three members of Lucybell, the tropical singer Americo, the singer-songwriter Francisca Valenzuela and Gepe, among other guests at the tribute to the singer, applauded among the audience present.
Myriam Hernandez is presenting her new album ‘Tauro’ (2024) and will soon present her show ‘Invincible’ in Quito, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Spain, France, Italy, Chile in addition to scheduled tours in cities in the United States, Colombia, Peru and Panama.
Myriam Hernandez, 2022 Latin Grammy Academy Musical Excellence Award, is the first Chilean singer to receive this recognition, influential and transcendent in Latin music, backed by an extensive list of hits such as ‘The Man I Love’, ‘Smells Like Danger’, ‘You Look So Much Like Him’, ‘Dangerous Love’, ‘A Secret Man’, ‘Wounded’, ‘I’m Back for You’ and many others extracted from his valuable discography in Latin American romantic pop.
Currently the artist is presenting her album ‘Tauro’ (2024), her twelfth studio work, produced by the prominent Jacobo Calderon and who has achieved success with several of his songs on platforms such as ‘We have told everything’ and ‘Solo cuidate y adios’ that add up to several million views.
The artist in Spotify has stood out with millions of listens with songs like ‘The man I love’ which exceeds 120 million views and on YouTube its official video clip has exceeded 100 million in the last five years. Myriam Hernandez has consolidated her acceptance on digital platforms as the great voice of romantic pop in Latin America.
