Curry was one of three finalists, along with Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan and Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The four-time champion led the league in decisive scoring, defined as points in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter or in overtime, with a score difference of five points or less, with 189, seven more than DeRozan. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 112 clutch points, seventh-most in the league.

Curry earned 45 first-place votes and finished with 298 points, while DeRozan finished with 272 points. Gilgeous-Alexander added 160 points. Players received five points for a first-place vote, three for second place, and one for third place.
