Non-teaching employees of the UPR suspend the march to La Fortaleza but maintain their strike vote

The Brotherhood of Exempt Non-Teaching Employees (Heend) of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) on Tuesday suspended the call to march towards Strength waiting for the plenary session of the Governing Board of the university system finally ratifies the new collective agreement at its regular meeting next Thursday.

The union indicated, in written statements, that both the president and the secretary of the UPR Governing Board, Ricardo Dalmau and Margarita Villamilrespectively, assured that The negotiated collective agreement will be evaluated tomorrow, Wednesday, by the Financial Affairs Committee and the Appeals, Law and Regulations Committee and they will present it for ratification before the plenary session at the next regular meeting on Thursday, May 30.

Faced with this panorama, the Heend put on hold a march called for tomorrow that intended to take their demands until Strength “to allow them (the UPR Board) to do their job,” according to the press release.
