Norceca lifts a sanction and will allow the reinforcements to return to the Men’s Superior Volleyball League

The North American, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (Norcecafor its acronym in English) authorized the return of imported players to the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM) after the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation (FPV) settled a debt that had been dragging on since 2011 with five athletes.

According to a statement from the FPV, the money owed to players Leonardo Leyva, Scott Touzinsky, Cory Riecks, Harry Rosario and Vitito Rivera was paid by the LVSM after a negotiation carried out by a committee of representatives.

“The representatives can begin to negotiate from today (Tuesday) with foreign players to reinforce their respective franchises”expressed in written statements the president of the Federation, Cesar Trabanco.

“The negotiation committee was made up of Ramon Rosado (Guaynabo), Karimar Guilloty (Mayaguez) and Atty. Nelson Perez (Carolina), who at the time (of the committee being formed) had not requested a waiver,” Trabanco detailed through written statements. “This committee managed to negotiate the debt, reducing it to approximately 20% of what was owed. That committee also contacted Miguel Orlando Gonzalez, representative of the Caribes de San Sebastian in the 2016 season, who agreed to participate in the payment of the debt of the player Cory Riecks. That was the only player who made complaints at Norceca in 2016″, he indicated.

The last time the LVSM had reinforcements was in 2016.

“It’s something we’ve been working on for a while, and we can say we achieved it. The entry of the reinforcements will give another incentive to the fan to continue visiting the fields, and will help the competitive balance of the league.”Trabanco added.

The 2023 LVSM season will begin its seventh week on Thursday, so the arrival of reinforcements could occur from that same day. The regular campaign consists of 12 weeks and will conclude on October 27. Each team has the right to a reinforcement within its squad of 15 players.

During the regular phase, teams may replace reinforcements as many times as they deem necessary. In the postseason, reinforcements can only be replaced due to injury, which must be certified by a doctor chosen by the FPV.

The Cafeteros de Yauco, with 21 points and a 7-2 record, are the leaders of the tournament, followed by the defending champions Mets de Guaynabo (20 points, 7-2). The rest of the participating teams are the Caribes de San Sebastian (16 points, 5-4), Changos de Naranjito (13 points, 5-2), Indios de Mayaguez (10 points, 3-5), Gigantes de Adjuntas (6 points, 2-6) and the Plataneros de Corozal (1 point, 0-8).
