Not even a cold stops him: Francisco Lindor gives the Mets the victory in extra innings against the Cubs

NY – The Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor hit a pair of two-run doubles after coming off the bench and the New York Mets they came back on Thursday to beat the Chicago Cubs in the 11th inning and tied the four-game series.

Dominican right fielder Starling Marte launched two rockets in extra innings to throw out the Cubs runners at the plate to end the 10th and 11th. Brandon Nimmo drove in two runs for the Mets, who came back from being down 4-0 and finished a set of home games 4-3.

Venezuelan Daniel Palencia (0-1) hit Harrison Bader with his pitch to open the bottom of the 11th. Lindor, who did not start after leaving Wednesday’s game with cold symptoms, hit a grounder to third base into left field for automatic runner Brett Baty and Bader to score.
