The candidate for resident commissioner of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), Pablo Jose Hernandezcriticized the senator’s expressions this Wednesday William Villafane –who aspires to the same position for the New Progressive Party (PNP) – about their willingness to accept the incorporated territory for Puerto Rico, an alternative to status which, incidentally, he described as “the worst of both worlds.”

“The incorporated territory is the worst of both worlds. It would be paying federal taxes without having representation in Congress or a vote for the president (of the United States). It would be eliminating, replacing the best of ELA (Commonwealth), which is the tax exemption, to the worst of statehood, which are federal contributions”assured the popular, in an aside with The new day, after a press conference on the subject, and estimated that Puerto Rican families would pay, on average, $2,500 in federal income taxes.
