“This is the law of life and the time will come to let off steam. He passed away last night, he went to bed peacefully. Blessed be God. I got to be with him in Culebra, I was able to interview him for my next book. He left a good legacy and a good example of behavior, discipline, loyalty and doing well in life. A righteous man, who taught me and raised me to always work comfortably, to work with loyalty, to be fair, not to be involved in cheating or betrayal, or blackmail, or discord. None of that, net illumination. Now his time has come as it will be ours in the future. We must act and live with the pleasant memory that he left us and me. I continue and will continue carrying out his law as best I can,” said the prominent percussionist.
“He was an individual who gave Puerto Rico joy, music and total rhythm, all of Puerto Rico knows that, and always with an even-handed behavior,” Hidalgo said by telephone from Orlando, Florida, about his father, who raised him since small on San Sebastian street and later on Lealtad street, at stop 15 in Santurce, where he received various musical influences not only from his father, but from other family members.
