Police investigate possible pattern of assaults in Hato Rey using car sales to attract victims

Agents from the Puerto Rico Police Bureau (NPPR) are investigating a possible new type of robbery using the purchase of a vehicle as a hook to attract victims who are assaulted when they arrive at the meeting place.

During the night of Tuesday, two robberies involving a Mitsubishi Lancer car were reported in Hato Rey, one at 7:15 pm and the other at 8:23 pm.

According to the Police news report, the first incident was reported in the parking lot in front of the Rebekah Colberg Sports Complex, on Montellano Street and the second on Francia Street, both in Hato Rey.

According to the complainant and witnesses to the incident that occurred at the sports complex, two masked individuals got out of a gray Mitsubishi Lancer with smoked windows and, intimidating them with firearms, robbed them of approximately $12.00 in cash in denominations of $1 bills. They subsequently fled the scene without causing physical harm to the victims.
