Primaries 2024: The familiar faces that lead the legislative ballots in the PPD and PNP

The preliminary results of the primaries around the Senate race by accumulation keep the incumbents of the Senate leading – in a comfortable position. New Progressive Party (PNP), while the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) presents well-known faces to voters who, if favored in the November 5 elections, would make their debut in the Legislative Assembly.

Among those familiar faces who received the support of the popular people at the island level to occupy a position by accumulation, are the mayors of Villalba and Comerio, Luis Javier Hernandez and Jose “Josian” Santiagorespectively, as well as Ada Alvarez Conde, who for years has held positions within the political structure of La Pava. The only incumbent legislator on this ballot is the president of the Senate, Jose Luis Dalmauwho, to date, has received the favor of 80,394 voters.

Out of contention I would be Carlos Diaz Sanchezwho in recent weeks denounced a series of apparent irregularities in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR), and the PPD spokesperson in the Senate, Javier Aponte Dalmaucurrently senator for the district of Carolina and who had obtained 53,239 votes.
