Protesters demand food for soup kitchens amid scandal that affects the Argentine government

Buenos Aires – Social organizations protested on Thursday in Buenos Aires and other Argentine cities demanding the immediate delivery of food to soup kitchens that assist poor families in the midst of the scandal that hit the government of Javier Milei due to the storage in state warehouses of products intended for social assistance that are close to expiring.

“Enough hunger, deliver the food” and “Restitution of food now” were the slogans reproduced on banners held by members of leftist groups in different protests.

The marches are led by the Coordinator for Social Change, the Polo Obrero and other leftist organizations that for decades have channeled the food provided by the State to thousands of soup kitchens.

After, in the midst of a context of growing poverty, it came to light that tens of thousands of kilos of powdered milk that are stacked in two warehouses of the Ministry of Human Capital will expire in July, the government ordered on Tuesday the start of its distribution with the Army and the help of a foundation.
