Puerto Rican Jose Berrios will be the starter for the Toronto Blue Jays on Opening Day of the Major Leagues

The Puerto Rican Jose Berrios will be the opener of the Toronto Blue Jays on the novena’s Opening Day on March 28, leader John Schneider announced on Tuesday.

Berrios will pitch that day in Tampa against the local Rays. It will be the second time in three years that the Puerto Rican will have the assignment for Toronto in the so-called Opening Day of the Big leagues.

“We informed him today, he was excited,” Schneider said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“The way he’s worked throughout his career, his work last season, this past dead period and this spring, and how he’s pitched, we feel comfortable with him against Tampa on day one. He represents what we want when we talk about durability, camaraderie and professionalism. “I was excited to break the news to him this morning,” Schneider continued.
