The Puerto Rican fighter Sebastian Rivera obtained a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after qualifying for the final of the 65 kilogram freestyle category of the World Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia.
Rivera, 25, beat Vazgen Tevanyan, from Armenia, in the semifinal today by a score of 10-9. The Puerto Rican will compete for the gold medal tomorrow, Tuesday, against the Hungarian Ismail Musukaev. The final fight is scheduled for 11:00 am, Puerto Rico time, according to the president of the Federation of Associated Fights of Puerto Rico, Obed Santana.
According to United World Wrestling on its social networks, Rivera is the first Puerto Rican to reach a final in a World Championship since Franklin Gomez did so 12 years ago. Gomez won silver in 2011 in the 60 kilogram category.
