Puerto Ricans Luis Vazquez and Johnathan Rodriguez receive the long-awaited call to move up to the Major Leagues

Puerto Ricans Luis Vazquez and Johnathan Rodriguez were promoted by the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Guardiansrespectively, and could experience their premieres in the coming days in the Big leagues.

Rodriguez’s promotion was announced on Monday by the Guardians themselves. The ranger, 24 years old, is a native of Bayamon and graduated from the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. He was selected by the Guardians in the third round of the 2017 draft.

So far this season in Triple A with the Columbus team, Rodriguez has appeared in 43 games in which he hit .276 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs. In the winter he was active in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (LBPRC) with the Carolina Giants, where he averaged .269 with three home runs and 17 RBIs in 40 games.
