Puerto Ricans on fire for the Mets: Francisco Lindor hits a home run and Edwin “Sugar” Diaz gets his ninth save

NY- Colombian Jose Quintana allowed one hit in seven scoreless innings, Brandon Nimmo and Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor each homered and drove in three runs, and the New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 7-5 on Tuesday.

Harrison Bader had three hits and scored twice as a member of the bottom of the batting order for the Mets, who returned to .500 (45-45). Lindor also had three hits and scored a pair of runs as leadoff hitter.

Venezuelan pinch-hitter Ildemaro Vargas put the Nationals on the board with a two-run homer in the eighth inning off reliever Adam Ottavino, who was booed as he left by much of the 31,243 spectators at Citi Field.

Venezuelan Keibert Ruiz added a two-run homer off Reed Garrett in the ninth inning, while Jacob Young scored from second on a wild pitch by Edwin “Sugar” Diaz.
