Puerto Rico advances to the top eight of the U-17 World Cup with a giant 42-point game from Felipe Quinones

Prospect Felipe Quinones had one of his best performances, if not the best of his career wearing the Puerto Rico jersey in its youth program, scoring 42 points to lead the U-17 National Team to an important 91-84 victory over France in the continuation of the FIBA World Cup in that category, which is being held in Turkey.

That performance, according to the International Basketball Federation itself, is the second highest number of points by a player in the history of the World Cup in this category.

Quinones, a student at the prestigious IMG sports academy in Tampa, Florida, shot 10-for-14 on two-point attempts and 12-for-23 overall, including a pair of three-pointers, to lead a Puerto Rican offense that remained neck-to-neck with the French throughout the game.

Quinones also had a great game from the free throw line, making 16 shots in 18 attempts. He also contributed three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
