Puerto Rico could receive between three to six inches of rain from Wednesday to Friday due to the passage of a trough

A trough that would pass through the area from this Wednesday to Friday could leave between three to six inches of rain on Puerto Rico, a little less than two weeks after another rain event caused heavy flooding in several municipalities.

Although this trough is not expected to be as significant as the last one, the National Meteorological Service (SNM) warned that the rain could cause rivers to overflow and increase the risk of flooding and landslides around the island.

“It is recommended that residents and visitors pay attention to forecast updates, especially those who live or travel in flood-prone areas,” the SNM urged in a special bulletin.

According to a map shared by that entity, the areas that will receive the most rain due to this trough are the municipalities of the interior, south, east and southeast, as well as the municipal islands of Vieques and Culebra, where the amount of precipitation is expected to be around between four to six inches.

On the other hand, municipalities in the southwest, west and north could receive up to three to four inches.
