Puerto Rico falls in the bronze medal game at the Norceca Final Six

The National volleyball team of Puerto Rico fell on Sunday in four sets against Mexico to win the bronze medal of the tournament Norceca 2024 Women’s Volleyball Final Six.

The winning scores were 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21.

Mexico dominated in attacks 58-54, in blocks 11-7 and in services 6-5.

Karina Flores was the best offensive player for the Mexicans with 18 points, while Sofia Maldonado and Uxue Guereca added 16 and 11 respectively.

For the Puerto Rican team, the most outstanding offensively was Grace Lopez with 29 points, followed by Paola Santiago with 10 and Stephanie Rivera with nine.

“It was a match in which we had our options, our opportunities in that first and second set… But we couldn’t close them,” said the leader of Puerto Rico, Juan Carlos Nunez, in statements collected by Norceca. “Throughout the entire tournament we had a set with three or even four points ahead, but we lacked that person who at given moments could carry the group and we didn’t close at the end,” he added.
