Puerto Rico is working to become a more physical team for the women’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Carolina – The Guillermo Angulo Coliseum was the setting where the 15 players of the national women’s basketball team met this Sunday to train for their Olympic commitment in a session full of energy.

On the court, manager Gerardo “Jerry” Batista and his technical team directed the athletes while they reviewed plays and concepts. During the session, emphasis was placed on physical play, as is customary in international tournaments. The goal is for the group to arrive in Paris with the tools to be able to play that way.

“We are setting up what we want to do in defense. FIBA has changed a little in the sense that it is allowing a much more aggressive game, with much more contact, and it has taken its toll on us, it has hurt us a little, so we have to get used to that and play in that same way,” explained Batista after the players’ fourth training session.
