Puerto Rico will throw itself into the ring in Japan with a real option to qualify for Paris 2024 in 3×3 basketball: “We are at the level”

The National Men’s 3×3 Basketball Team will have a first ‘attempt at the basket’ this weekend in Japan to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and wants to score a ‘bombshell’ from the serve.

The Puerto Rican squad will open its participation during the early hours of this Friday when it faces the Netherlands and Brazil in the Pre-Olympic that will be played until this Sunday in Utsunomiya, a city north of Tokyo.

Adrian Ocasio, Leandro Allende, Luis Cuascut and Antonio Ralat, along with the forward of the Cangrejeros de Santurce in the National Superior Basketball (BSN), Angel Matias, make up the group in Japan with Pedro Gonzalez as leader.

The contest brings together eight countries and only one will capture the ticket to the Olympics.

The Puerto Ricans are in Group A along with the Dutch and the Brazilians, plus Lithuania. France, Mongolia, Egypt and host Japan will play in Group B. Each team will play three games in the first round and the best two in each group will advance to the semifinals. And the winners of the semifinals will then compete for a trip to Paris on Sunday.
