Puerto Rico wins nine medals in the Caribbean Senior Table Tennis Championships

Puerto Rico won nine medals – including two gold – in the Caribbean Senior Championship of table tennis, which was held from April 16 to 21 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The gold medals were won by teams of both sexes, who defeated their male peers. Cuba in the end. The women’s team – made up of Brianna Burgos, Fabiola Diaz, Alondra Rodriguez and Edmarie Leon– beat the Cubans 3-0.

On their way to the final, the Puerto Ricans defeated Barbados (3-0) and Guyana (3-1) in the group stage, and Trinidad and Tobago in the semifinal by 3-2.

In the case of the men – whose national team was made up of Angel Naranjo, Oscar Birriel, Jabdiel Torres and Gabriel Perez– came out with a 3-2 victory.

They won their first games undefeated (3-0) against Aruba and Guyana in the group round, and against the Dominican Republic in the semifinal.
