Russian missiles kill 13 in Ukrainian city

kyiv, Ukraine — Three Russian missiles crashed into a central area of the northern Ukrainian city of Chernigov and reached an eight-story apartment building, where at least 13 people died, authorities said.

According to Ukrainian emergency services, at least 61 people were injured, including two children, in the morning attack.

Chernigov is located about 90 miles north of the capital kyiv. With a population of about 250,000, the city is located near the border with Russia and Belarus.

The war, which entered its third year, could be reaching what could be a critical turning point due to a lack of military support from Western allies for Ukraine.which leaves the country increasingly at the mercy of the Kremlin’s largest forces.

During the winter months, Russia made no major advances along the 620-mile war front, instead focusing on attrition tactics. However, the lack of artillery ammunition and armored vehicles in the Ukrainian contingent has allowed progressive advances by Russian forces, according to military analysts.
