Six people are injured after being shot in a New York park

Six people were injured when they were shot early Sunday in a park in Rochester, New York, police said. None of the injured are believed to be in mortal danger.

Rochester Police Chief David Smith said At least one person began shooting into a crowd of people during an argument at Manhattan Square’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park around 2:45 a.m. Sunday..

The police said that The victims were a minor under 17 years of age; three men aged 18, 21 and 33, and two women aged 20 and 25.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, but police charged a man who they said He got into a fight with officers as they responded to the shooting.. An officer was injured while attempting to detain the man and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to Smith.

The man, 38 years old, He was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree obstruction of public administration, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment.Smith said.

“When you have people actively fighting with officers who are trying to provide medical care, it obviously makes things much more difficult,” Smith said at a news conference on Sunday.
