Puerto Rican skater Steven Pineiro won the bronze medal in the category park with 83.24 points in the Urban Sports Esplanade of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
In this category, Pineiro, who is in the ‘Top10’ of the Olympic ranking for the Paris 2024 edition, finished sixth at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The gold medalist was the American Taylor Nye with 86.68 points. He was followed by Brazilian Augusto Takahashi with 84.12.
The participation of the main exponent of the skateboard sport of the national delegation represented Puerto Rico’s last opportunity to get on the podium in this discipline.
The skateboard debuted at the Pan American level in Santiago 2023.
This past Saturday, fellow Puerto Rican skater Emanuel “Manny” Santiago did not win a medal for the island by finishing in seventh position in the final of the Street modality with 144.65 points.
In the female branch, Puerto Rican Vianez Morales closed in eighth place.
