Tax credit for veterinary expenses? Learn about the scope of this proposal that is being discussed in the Legislature

In addition to being a potential relief to the pocket, the tax credit for veterinary expenses that is being discussed in the Legislature could serve as a stimulus for greater preventive care for the health of pets among those who were limited to seeking these services due to their cost, agreed veterinarians consulted by The new day.

Both the president of College of Veterinary Doctors of Puerto Rico, Sheila Vega Zambranalike the veterinarian Adriana Lunathey favored the House Bill 1409which would grant a credit of up to $500 per year per taxpayer, as long as evidence of veterinary expenses of $1,500 or more is presented.

“There are people who, many times, love their pets, but limit their visits due to lack of money, and (they say) ‘if it is not an emergency, we are not going to take the animal.’ Many times, in emergencies, animals die.”said Luna.

The measure was approved this week in the House of Representativesand now must be considered by the Senate.
