The three-hour gala will also be broadcast on the streaming platform Paramount+ and will be available on the CBS app as part of a new agreement between the network and the Golden Globes.
After its deal with NBC expired earlier this year, Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries, the owners of the rights to the golden globewere in negotiations for several months with several communication companies to find a new home for the renowned awards.
”We are very proud to bring the Golden Globes to CBS to celebrate the awards show’s 81-year history”Dick Clark Productions owner Jay Penske said in a statement.
The renowned film and television awards had been broadcast by CBS in 1981 and 1982, and the television network is currently responsible for broadcasting the Grammys.
”At a time when audiences watch content on their own schedules, we are thrilled to bring the Golden Globes to viewers around the world through CBS’ robust platforms.”said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes.
The nominations for the 2024 gala will be presented on December 11 and this year they will have for the first time the categories of cinematic and box office success, and best performance in a stand-up comedy special on television.
The last Golden Globe ceremony in 2023 marked the return of these awards to television after the non-televised event in 2022, amid controversy over the lack of African-American representation among the members of the extinct Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which owned the awards before selling it earlier this year.
