The AAA will implement a rationing plan for subscribers in Humacao and Yabucoa

The Water and sewage Authority (AAA) will implement, starting Monday, September 18, a rationing plan for subscribers in Humacao and Yabucoa who are supplied from the pumping stations in the Catano, Buena Vista and Palmas neighborhoodsreported the director of the Eastern Region of the agency, Enrique Rosario August.

The plan will be executed by 12-hour periods, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, specifically in service areas identified as A and B.

“During the past weeks, we have carried out several initiatives leading to the optimization of the distribution system that originates at the Terminal Sur pump station in Humacao and that supplies the areas of Catano, Mariana, Candelero, Buena Vista in Humacao, Parrilla Gandular , Aguacate and surrounding sectors of Yabucoa, among others,” said Rosario Agosto through written statements.

We completed the replacement of mechanical elements in various pumping stations, identified and repaired hidden leaks and installed valves for sectorization, study and pressure profiles and their respective operational adjustments. However, we continue to experience operational deficiencies in the pumping systems., and additional work is required to continue the sectorization of distribution systems. Therefore, while we continue the execution of network improvements and optimization, we established a plan for scheduled interruptions that will come into effect on Monday, September 18,” added Rosario Agosto.

To match the demand of subscribers, two areas were established that will receive services alternately.

Zone A It will be made up of customers in Humacao neighborhoods such as Candelero Abajo and Buena Vista and, in turn, includes subscribers from the Parrilla Gandular, Aguacate and Playa Guayanes neighborhoods in Yabucoa. Residents in this area will experience low pressures and service interruption.

While, Zone B includes clients who live in the Catano neighborhood of Humacao.

The AAA portal that shows the levels of the reservoirs highlights that the levels of the Blanco River in Naguabo, which supplies water to Humacao, Yabucoa, Naguabo, Vieques and Culebra, had a level of 28.56 meters, so it operates at the level of security”.

“This interruption plan is established temporarily while the next initiatives leading to the optimization of the systems are completed,” added the regional director.

Rosario Agosto reported that, in the Catano neighborhood, An oasis will be established at the entrance to the community and those sectors will be added within the plan in which there is a need to supply drinking water.

Given the possibility of turbidity in the water when service is reestablished, the regional director recommended boiling the water for three minutes prior to consumption.
