The Astros achieve their highest total of runs this season with 14, after a nine-run inning

Houston – Jake Meyers hit a three-run homer, Venezuelan Jose Altuve and rookie Joey Loperfido each added three hits and the Houston Astros scored nine times in the sixth inning to beat the Baltimore Orioles.

Houston thus achieved its highest scoring total of the season, a day after the Orioles themselves recorded their highest scoring game of the year, beating the Yankees 17-5.

The Astros were down one run and had two men on base with two out when Meyers sent a pitch from Grayson Rodriguez (8-3) into the left field seats to make it 5-3.

Houston sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 14-3. The nine runs are the Astros’ most of the season.
