The Bears spoil Jose Juan Barea’s managerial debut with the Mets

On the opening day of the 2023 season of the National Superior Basketball (BSN), the Manatee Bears They spoiled the debut as leader of Jose Juan Barea with of the Guaynabo Mets by defeating them by a score of, 101-93, at the Mario Quijote Morales Coliseum.

Sheldon Mac led the Bears offense with 34 points, seven rebounds and three assists. He was followed by Jordan Walker and Isaac Sosa with 14 points each.

In the loss, EJ Crawford contributed 26 points, three rebounds and two assists. Jaysean Paige added another 18 with a rebound and six assists.

In the second period, Manati came out aggressive and in the first minutes saw an 8-0 advance with two triples from forward Jose Guitian, which made the score 28-25. Guitian added another triple and the Bears led by up to six points, 33-27. However, those led by Barea reduced the deficit and tied the game at 37-37 thanks to a triple by Crawford, with 2:16 minutes remaining.
