The Coast Guard did not locate the source of the alleged spill in the Condado lagoon

After several hours of investigation, authorities have not yet identified the origin of an oil-like substance or Diesel which this Thursday covered parts of the estuary of the San Juan Bayincluding the lagoon County.

“The staff arrived. Several areas were checked and the source or that there was an active charge could not be found,” said the spokesman for the Coast Guard In Puerto Rico, Ricardo Castrodad.

“We cannot say where the spill could have occurred,” he added.

Officers from several agencies arrived at the San Juan Yacht Club to verify the pumps that operators use to add diesel to their boats.

However, they did not find a leak, while the theory about the displacement of the contaminant changed.

“We found no evidence that it had occurred at the Yacht Club. It is not usual for me to go from the Club to the Laguna. The current goes from the Laguna to the Club,” Castrodad explained. “We remain in communication with the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources)which is verifying on the ground.”
