The Criollos stop the Mets’ streak and Manati places San German on the brink of elimination

Akim Mitchell had a double-double of 14 points and 20 rebounds as the Criollos de Caguas dispatched the leading Guaynabo Mets on Sunday, 82-69, at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum.

Travis Trice led the Creole offense with 19 points to stop the metropolitans’ five-win streak. Cagua improved to 17-13, third in Section B of the National Superior Basketball (BSN).

Guaynabo, for its part, remains at the top of the group with 18-11.

The private series between both squads ended 3-1 in favor of the Turabo Valley quintet.

For the Mets, Ronda Hollis-Jefferson was the best with 18 points. Gabe York contributed 17 and Jaysean Paige 15 in a losing cause.

At the Arquelio Torres Ramirez Coliseum, the Atletico de San German were defeated, 100-88, by the Osos de Manati.
