The ICP donates 30 musical instruments to four public schools

With the purpose of promoting the well-being and educational and creative development of young students, the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP) and its Music Program made an important donation of musical instruments to specialized public schools. With this donation, we seek to provide a greater opportunity for accessibility to students and the transformation of their communities.

“At ICP we are extremely committed to education in the arts and culture. We believe that the development of artistic skills such as music are a valuable contribution to the well-being of society.”, indicated Carlos Ruiz, executive director of the ICP. “As part of our mission, we have carried out activities to encourage and promote musical education in Puerto Rico, including this donation of instruments to different specialized educational institutions. We are sure that among these students, who now have access to new instruments, are our great musical artists of the future.”

The donation of more than 30 musical instruments was made at the Jesus T. Pinero de Cidra, Miguel A. Julia Collazo de Cayey schools, the William D. Boyce School in Puerto Nuevo de San Juan and the Ernesto Ramos Antonini Free School of Music in San Juan. All of these public schools offer a unique opportunity to young students who wish to pursue studies in the musical field. Some of the musical instruments that were donated were violins, cuatro, 3/4 cello, double bass, drums, bell and bongo.
