Mexico had its revenge. The Women’s National Volleyball Team of Puerto Rico succumbed on Saturday in three sets against the Aztec team in the Championship Norceca 2023which takes place in Quebec, Canada.
The scores of the Mexican victory were 25-22, 32-20 and 25-22. Puerto Rico will play on Sunday against Costa Rica in the sixth and seventh place game.
Paola Santiago was the best for Puerto Rico with 17 points, followed by Alondra Vazquez and Sofia Victoria with 15 points each.
In the victory, Greece Castro and Aime Topete They contributed 17 units each.
Mexico dominated the attacks 53-48 and the serves 6-2. The Puerto Ricans, meanwhile, had eight blocks, three more than the rival team.
Puerto Rico had beaten Mexico in five sets in the first phase of the tournament. However, they fell in three sets against Cuba in the quarterfinals, and in their second match against the Mexicans, they were also unable to win a set.
The semifinals were defined in the following matches: United States vs. Cuba and Canada against the Dominican Republic.
The Puerto Rican adult women’s team occupies twenty-second place in the world ranking of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
