The swell recedes, but the high risk of marine currents continues on the north coast

Although the north swell that affected Puerto Rico during much of Holy Week begins to lose intensity, the National Weather Service (SNM), in San Juan, asked the public to be cautious on the beaches of the northern coast of the island since there remains a high risk of marine currents along that entire coast..

Ian Colon Pagan, SNM meteorologist in San Juanindicated that a warning for small boat operators for offshore waters, 10 miles north of Puerto Rico, remains in effect until 8:00 am on Tuesday.

However, he assured that conditions on the coast would improve over the course of the day.

“These conditions will continue to improve today, but small boat operators should exercise caution. Breaking waves should remain between 4 and 6 feet during the day for northern Puerto Rico and the Mona and Anegada passages.“, indicated Colon Pagan.
