The United States claims to have neutralized three missiles and “several drones” launched from Yemen in the Red Sea

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder indicated in a press conference that although he cannot say “with certainty” where these missiles and drones were headed, they were heading north. “potentially towards targets in Israel”.

There were no casualties among US forces and the Department of Defense indicated that they are not aware of any civilian casualties on the ground.

Intercepting this weaponry, he said, is an example of the integrated air and missile defense structure established by USA in the Middle East, which the country indicated it was willing to use “when necessary” to protect its partners and interests.

“We have the ability to defend our broader interests in the region and deter regional escalation and broader expansion”added the Pentagon spokesperson, who refused to go into details because what happened is still being investigated.

Ryder stressed, however, that “There are clearly tensions in the region”which is why we are working hard to keep the lines of communication open.

The Pentagon spokesman pointed out that the United States “maintains his legitimate right to self-defense” and that under that premise the decision was made to shoot down the missiles and drones as soon as it was concluded that they represented a “potential threat”.
