They accompany caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients with “knowledge and humor”

Motivated by the chords of a guitar and applause to the beat of a music therapist, dozens of caregivers of patients of Alzheimer’s They danced this Saturday in the middle of a talk about alternatives aimed at accompanying and easing their burdens, at the Jaime Benitez Rexach Amphitheater of the Medical Sciences Campus (RCM) of the University of Puerto Rico.

It was one of the activities of the event “Accompanying you from research to your reality as a caregiver”, in which around 60 caregivers and relatives of Alzheimer’s patients attended to learn more about the disease and how to take care of themselves along the way.

Alzheimer’s is the most common dementia, affecting more than 7 million people in the United States. In Puerto Rico, it is estimated that it affects between 60,000 and 80,000 people. According to Alzheimer’s Associationthe disease causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior.
