The authorities reclassified a case in Las Piedras as a “murder” after confirming the discovery of charred human remains at the scene.
The events were reported at around 10:12 pm last Friday, through a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System that alerted about a vehicle on fire.
According to the police report, after firefighters completed extinguishing the flames, “they noticed remains that could be a human body, in the rear area of the Hyundai Tucson vehicle.”
The discovery was taken to the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) for analysis purposes. In written statements, the ICF yesterday informed The new day that “two citizens from different families came to corroborate identity.”
Subsequently, the Police reclassified the case as a murder for registration at the Center for Analysis of Criminal Incidents and Clarification of Crimes.
The complaint was classified as “death without cause determined to murder” due to the discovery of “a completely charred body in the back chair.”
Until yesterday, the Police had reported 329 murders, 95 less than the 424 registered on the same date in 2022.
