Tamara Fredyoung businesswoman and student University of Puerto Rico (UPR) in Carolina, I thought I had to start a business outside the island “because I didn’t see a future” to stay and “make my life,” but, with the new financing program launched this Thursday by the Economic Development Bank (BDE), his vision changed.

“I think it is an excellent initiative for us young people. I think it has excellent requirements, in the sense that it does not close doors or the few alternatives that, perhaps, young people find along the way.“, he explained.

The program “Young Visionary”from the BDE, offers a borrowing margin of up to $25,000 to support entrepreneurs in the incorporation or expansion of their business, in order to retain and promote the return of this population in the diaspora.

32% of Puerto Ricans who have left, in the last 10 years, responded that they would be highly likely or likely to return to Puerto Rico, according to a survey by the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (CCPR).
