The Police identified today, Monday, the two women who were murdered yesterday, Sunday, in two different crimes reported in San Juan and Carolina.
According to the Uniformed Police, the first of the two victims was identified as Narda Castilloresident of Puerto Nuevo in San Juan.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the authorities were notified about “an attack” in front of a gas station on Puerto Nuevo Avenue. The police report indicates that the female received several puncture wounds in different areas of the body.
When agents arrived, they found that the woman had been taken to the Rio Piedras Medical Center, where she died while receiving medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Police identified as Shirley Mauren Chavez Vizcarrondo to the victim of a murder reported at noon yesterday, in Carolina.
The shot body of Chavez Vizcarrondo, 43 years old and a resident of the Sabana Abajo residential complex in Carolina, was found face up on Monserrate Avenue in Carolina. At the scene, 15 .40 caliber bullet casings were found.
Before these two cases, official Police statistics reflected that 25 women had been murdered so far this year, until Saturday. Of them, 12 died at the hands of their partner or ex-partner. However, statistics from the Gender Equality Observatory indicate that 47 women died violently in 2023.
