They issue a flood warning for several municipalities in Puerto Rico

This afternoon, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a warning and several warnings of urban and stream flooding for municipalities in Puerto Rico.

The warning issued for Ciales, Corozal, Manati, Morovis, Orocovis, Vega Alta and Vega Baja is in effect for 7:00 pm, Mariangelis Marrero, NWS meteorologist, told El Nuevo Dia.

Until that same time, a warning was also issued for the towns of Arecibo, Barceloneta, Florida, Manati, Jayuya, and Utuado.

Meanwhile, for Carolina, Loiza and Trujillo Alto the broadcast is until 7:30 pm

Another flood warning will be in effect until 6:45 pm for Bayamon, Corozal, Guaynabo, Naranjito, San Juan, Toa Alta.

Marrero maintained that the rains recorded this afternoon are the product of a cold front that affects the area. According to the flood warning, “at 5:00 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warning area. Up to 3 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of up to 1 inch are possible in the advisory area. “Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin soon.”
