The municipality of Quebradillas woke up this Thursday with the news of the tragic death of the former Olympic athlete, Jose Miguel Perez Perez, after being hit by a vehicle that was traveling on the PR-2 highway, jurisdiction of Camuy, reported the Police Bureau (NPPR).

Jose Miguel, known as “El Olimpico”, died at the age of 85.

He was a figure who left a mark on fencing as an athlete and coach. He participated in the Mexico Olympics in 1968. and also in the Pan American and Central American and Caribbean Games, in addition to having been an instructor. He was also a marathon runner and practiced other sports, while he was a chess instructor in Quebradillas.
