They warn of a high risk of flooding for the weekend due to a trough

The National Meteorological Service (SNM) warned of a high risk of flooding due to the passage of a trough during the next few days, particularly Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and that urban flooding could also develop.

According to the forecasts of that federal office, The areas that would be receiving the greatest rain activity are the south, southeast and east of Puerto Rico, as well as the islands of Vieques and Culebra..

“There is a risk of water stagnation, flooding of urban areas, roads and streams. Flash flooding and landslides are also possible. “Some rivers will overflow their banks.”the SNM announced, through a special bulletin, about the potential impact of the rains.

The SNM also explained that a flash flood watch could be issued during Thursday.

The showers are caused by the proximity of a trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere, which will leave variable to rainy conditions during Wednesday. This pattern has prevailed over the last few days, causing saturation of the soils, as well as an increase in humidity around the entire island.
