They warn of the risk of significant heat for the remainder of the long weekend

Southeasterly winds and humidity will cause another hot day this Sunday, with multiple coastal municipalities under heat warnings and advisories that will keep heat indices elevated to above 108 degrees Fahrenheit (F).

“During the day, the daytime heat is going to increase. We have an excessive heat advisory and a heat warning. The warning would be from Carolina to Aguadilla, the warning for the other coastal areas”reported the meteorologist Manuel Ramos, of the National Meteorological Service (SNM).

A heat advisory predicts heat indices that range between 108 to 111 degrees F, while in a heat advisory those values could rise to over 112 degrees F.

The heat index is the measurement of the thermal sensation of a region and takes into consideration humidity and temperature. It should be noted that it is not a measure of the net temperature at the moment.
