Three dead, including a child, after train collides with truck in New York

NY A child was among the three victims killed when a train of passengers collided with a truck in the state of NYauthorities reported.

The Amtrak train was heading north when it collided with a Dodge truck Friday night in North Tonawanda, a small town in upstate New York near the Niagara River between Niagara Falls and Buffalo, police said.

The dead were a 6-year-old boy, a 67-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, North Tonawanda Police Capt. Daryl Truty said in a statement Saturday. The names of the victims have not been released.

None of the train’s 21 passengers or crew were injured in the crash, Amtrak spokeswoman Olivia Irvin said in a statement. The train was traveling from New York City to Niagara Falls when the accident occurred.
