Ohio — A boy took a gun out of his mother’s purse in a store in Ohio and accidentally shot it, authorities reported.
The incident occurred on Thursday at a Walmart store, police said. The mother is now charged with endangering the life of a minor.
The 2-year-old boy took the Taurus 9-millimeter pistol from his wallet and fired it, the mother told police.
The bullet hit the roof of the store and the boy was left with a minor wound on his forehead “when he hit the magazine.””the police said.
The woman, whose identity was not released, was arrested and charged in Pike County Court with endangering the life of a child, the agency said.
He added that the boy was taken to an emergency center and left with a guardian.
In a statement on their Facebook page, Waverly police said: The incident “highlights the importance of increased safety and prevention measures” and that the department “emphasizes the importance of storing weapons in a responsible manner, especially in homes where there are children.”
