Victor Caratini decides the game with a home run in the tenth inning

Houston — The two-run home run by the Puerto Rican pinch-hitter Victor Caratini with two outs in the 10th inning and Josh Hader’s first two-inning outing since 2019 led the Houston Astros to a 10-9 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday.

Houston trailed by one run after David Fry’s RBI double off Hader (1-2) with two outs in the top of the inning.

Caratini homered to right field off Hunter Gaddis (1-1). Thus, the Astros have won three consecutive games, the most this season, after they swept a two-game series over the weekend in Mexico City.

Hader pitched a scoreless ninth before returning to the mound in the 10th. It was the first time he had more than three outs in a regular-season game since his four on August 14, 2020.
