“We are not asking for anything that is extraordinary”: they march in Santa Isabel due to the instability of the electrical service

Saint Elizabeth – While LUMA Energy evaluates the logistics of moving a transformer to repair the breakdown that has left residents in Saint Elizabeth, Coamo and Aibonitea group of subscribers, accompanied by the mayors of those municipalities, marched this Monday to demand that the situation be addressed urgently and with permanent solutions.

“Fight yes, blackouts no,” chanted the clients of the company that has been in control of the transmission and distribution of electricity since June 2021, upon arriving at the consortium’s offices on Luis Munoz Rivera Street, in Santa Isabel.

The call was led by the mayor of Santa Isabel Rafael “Billy” Burgos Santiago and the Coamanian executive Juan Carlos “Tato” Garcia Padillawho reiterated the request to the governor Pedro Pierluisi to declare a state of emergency so that resources are channeled to those affected in the southern area by the lack of electricity.

We are not asking for anything that is extraordinary. We are not asking for anything that is unattainable. We are asking for responsible solutions, solutions with data. (…) Today we demand respect, today we demand empathy, today we demand that they look at themselves in their mirror and say: ‘it could be one of mine who is suffering today, going hungry in a bed without electricity’ “Garcia Padilla expressed to those present.
