Willi Castro hits a home run and catches two balls in the Twins’ victory over the Reds

Cincinnati- Puerto Rican Willi Castro hit a two-run homer and made a pair of spectacular catches, Kenta Maeda combined for a four-hit effort and the Minnesota Twins defeated the Cincinnati Reds 7-0 on Tuesday to take another step toward their third division title in five seasons.

On the other hand, Puerto Rican Fernando Cruz (1-2) took the loss for the Reds

Ryan Jeffers added a solo home run for Minnesota (80-72), which entered the day with a seven-game lead over Cleveland atop the American League Central Division.

Cincinnati (79-74) was shut out for the 10th time this season and remained behind the third and final playoff berth in the National League.

In his first season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, Maeda (6-7) won his third straight start after going without a decision in four matches.

Castro dove to catch Tyler Stephenson’s line drive in center field, avoiding a tying hit in the sixth inning. In the seventh, he jumped toward the wall to rob Stephenson of a home run.

For the Twins, Dominican Jorge Polanco was 1 for 5 with an RBI. The Puerto Rican Castro is 5-2 with one run scored and two RBIs.

For the Reds, Dominican Elly de la Cruz 3-0.
