With little chance of qualifying for Paris 2024, the National Women’s Volleyball Team launches in Ponce to add points in the ranking

With several new faces and the return of the veteran coach Juan Carlos Nunezthe Women’s National Volleyball Team will take the field starting this Friday in the Final Four of Norceca, which will take place at the Salvador Dijols Coliseum in Ponce.

The Puerto Rican sextet, number 16 in the world ranking of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), will face Costa Rica on the same Friday.

Then, they will clash on Saturday against Cuba and close the tournament on Sunday against Mexico.

The three games are at 8:00 at night.

“We made a call with new players, added to others who have been part of this generational change in recent years,” Nunez told El Nuevo Dia.

“There are several casualties, but we are working with those who are there,” he added.

The Puerto Rican roster is led by veteran libero Shara Venegas, as well as attacker Paola Santiago, setter Wilmarie Rivera and center back Neira Ortiz.
