The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) announced on Monday the appointment of the former receiver of the St. Louis Cardinals in MLB, Yadier Molinaas leader of the Under 15 National Team.
Molina will coach the Puerto Rican team in a friendly event, which will take place starting this Thursday in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and will conclude on September 18.
In addition to Puerto Rico and the host team from Puerto Rico, there will also be the United States team.
”It is a great honor to be with these young people helping them progress. It is always an honor to represent Puerto Rico,” said Molina, through written statements. “It is a very talented group. We are going to run a lot and play small baseball,” she added.
Molina represented Puerto Rico as a player in the World Baseball Classic, being the team captain on multiple occasions. Likewise, he led the U-23 National Team in 2017 and 2018.
He was also in charge of the Magellan’s Navigators in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, and this year he led Puerto Rico in the Classic. He was recently named pilot of the Caguas Creoles in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Lbprc).
“Of the 20 players we have on the roster, 15 can also pitch and that gives us strength,” said the manager.

The team will travel this Tuesday and will have its first practice in Dominican territory on Wednesday.
The Under 15 National Team is made up of: Pedro Sierra, Geraniel Nieves, Emanuel Hernandez, Derick Cedeno, Jean RosaKail Pena, Sebastian Quiles, Yeickxel Rivera, Nelson Molina, Yanuel Molina, Joniel Miranda, Lorenzo Melendez, Carlos Ortiz, Luis Santos, Manuel Manzano , Victor Rivera, Arian Colon, Keniel Miranda, Carlos Aponte and Jomar Rivera.
